We consider a Design Audit as a critical step in the quality and reliability process. It is the clients opportunity to ensure that what was promised at the proposal stage is included in the design , that unproven design changes have not been introduced, that aerodynamic, rotordynamic and Finite Element analyses yield acceptable results, that auxiliary equipment such as couplings are correctly sized and most importantly that the client’s operating experience is included in the design.
Typically such an audit occurs no more than ten weeks after order and before any major component machining occurs. Typically a full Design Audit includes the subjects in the following list. However, the scope can be tailored to fit the client’s needs and independent aerodynamic, rotordynamic and torsional analyses can be performed if deemed necessary.
· Stage Experience Review – Mechanical
· Stage Experience Review – Aerodynamic
· Aerodynamic Performance check
· Rotordynamic review
· Torsional and Transient Torsional Analyses review
