Brian Keenan has been involved in rotating equipment for 35 years. His experience ranges from business development to operations. Within Applications his experience includes the following:
- Responsible for the RFQs, bid analysis, selection and endorsement of new machinery for BOC Process Plants and BOC Process Systems over a period of 21 years. Provided key solutions for the equipment integration in large multiproduct plants. Made a major contribution to winning over $1100 million in new projects in a two year period. Projects included the following:
- Provided the winning solution and led the technical team for an integrated 52 MW gas turbine cogeneration plant and Oxygen facility for power and gas sales to Mitsubishi Materials.
- Provided the winning solution and led the technical team for the integrated cogeneration and air separation machinery solution for BOC's facility at Atasta in Mexico. This is world’s largest N2 facility and provides nitrogen to the Pemex Cantarell field for enhanced oil recovery. Project included an integrated 500 MW cogeneration facility with four gas turbine / heat recovery steam generator (HSRG) units (3 operating and 1 spare) providing power and steam to four 3000 tpd air separation units with four electric motor driven 55 MW axial flow air compressors, four 45 MW steam turbine driven 120 Bara centrifugal nitrogen compressors and 75000 m3/hr sea water cooling water system and other utilities.
- Founder member of Ingersoll Rand Turbo Products Application Engineering department in the UK. (now Dresser Rand). Projects included the following:
Gas turbine driven compressor trains for Gaz de France and British Gas.
Hydrogen recycle compressors for Conoco
FCCU air compressors and hot gas expanders for CFR, Saras, Lindsey Oil.
Cat gas compressors for Exxon and Mobil
Nitric Acid power recovery train for Kenren.
- Member of Exxon's NPQC and Design Audit teams which were responsible for feasibility studies, RFQ's, bid analysis, selection and endorsement of machinery. Projects included
o Fawley Isomerisation Unit (centrifugal compressors)
o Karlsruhe Delayed Coker unit (centrifugal compressors, diesel driven 3500 KW jet cutting pump)
o Fawley Gas Turbine driven cogen unit.
o Fos Sur Mer expansion (reciprocating compressors and pumps)
o Fawley Flare Gas Recovery Unit (liquid ring compressors)
o Fulmar platform (centrifugal compressors)
- Set up BOC Process Plants Machinery Application Department which radically changed the way BOCPP approached their sales and was a major contributor to moving the company from an £80 million to a £300 million base.
· Member of BOC’s oversight team on the Supply Management initiative on compressor sourcing.
· Member of the BOC TQM team which decided the strategic direction for the Procurement Department.
